The shortlists were decided by the industry in our survey which enabled brokers to vote for the underwriters and the reinsurers to vote for those brokers they believed are the best in the business.

Now all eyes will be on the awards ceremony which will be staged on the night of 20 October in the heart of the city of London.

The event, which will be held at the Grange City Hotel, at Tower Hill, is designed not only to honour the industry’s stars but also to provide an evening at which the industry can come together to raise money for a charity which goes to the aid of those impacted by natural and man made catastrophe in countries where the industry does not have the opportunity to provide relief and support via its day to day operations.

In seeking to make the event an evening unlike others we have decided that for the first time in any of our industry’s awards one of the awards will be voted for “live” on the night by those who attend the ceremony.

Given that one of the core aims of the awards is to raise money for charity in keeping with the theme, the ninth and final award on the night will be for the Charitable Initiative of the Year which will see the shortlisted candidates able to give a brief presentation on the work they have done and it is then over to the audience decide which deserve the award and the £1,000 donation to their chosen charity.

The end of the awards ceremony will see the start of a Charity Auction where a number of exclusive prizes will be offered to the highest bidder with all the money raised going directly to our nominated charity Concern Worldwide.

Our guest speaker for the event is one of the true giants of rugby – Legendary Scottish international Lock George “Doddie” Weir, who will also conduct the auction.

Reinsurance magazine’s editorial Director Jon Guy said: “We have been delighted by the response to our survey and the shortlists feature some of the major players in the industry. It is set to be a truly memorable night and we hope the real winner will be concern Worldwide and the people it is able to help with the money raised.”
